After having been chartered in June 1972, Central Virginia Bank opened for business on September 17, 1973 at Flat Rock in Powhatan County, Virginia. The bank opened for business with assets just under $1 million and capitalization of $600,000. Today we have assets of approximately $459 million, deposits of over $378 million and equity capital of over $38 million, placing us among the strongest community banks in Virginia*.

Central Virginia Bank operates as a state chartered member of the Federal Reserve System and its deposits are insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). The bank is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Central Virginia Bankshares, Inc., a one bank holding company. Common shares of Central Virginia Bankshares, Inc. have traded on the Nasdaq Stock Marketsm since May 1995 under the symbol "CVBK".

Central Virginia Bank's assessment area consists of Powhatan, Cumberland, Western Chesterfield, Henrico, and Eastern Goochland Counties. We have branch offices in Powhatan, Cartersville, Midlothian, Brandermill, Wellesley, Bellgrade, and Cumberland Courthouse.
